About this site
This site describes The Car Veteran, an independent short-form video channel, and the in-house tool used to publish its videos. The site is informational. It offers no account, no service to sign up for, and no software to download.
Our content
The videos published by The Car Veteran are original works created for entertainment and general information. Rusty and Sparky are fictional characters and the voices are synthetic. No real individuals are named or depicted, and no particular garage, dealership or manufacturer is accused of anything.
Advice disclaimer
Our videos describe how common car repairs, parts and quotes generally work. They are not a diagnosis of your vehicle and are not a substitute for inspection by a qualified mechanic. Vehicles differ, and a misjudgement about brakes, steering, airbags or fuel systems can be dangerous. You are responsible for decisions you make about your own car; when in doubt, have it looked at.
Footage and attribution
Background footage is used as visual accompaniment and is not the subject of the video. Some clips are recorded by us; others are published by third parties under a Creative Commons licence and are credited in the description of the video they appear in, as that licence requires. If you believe your footage has been used without correct attribution, contact us and we will correct or remove it.
Merchandise links
Some video descriptions link to a separate merchandise store operated by the same person. Purchases there are handled entirely by that store; the publishing tool described on this site handles no orders, no payment details and no customer data.
Use of our content
Our videos and written stories remain our property. You may watch and share them through the platforms where we publish them, using each platform's own sharing features. Re-uploading, re-editing or redistributing our videos as your own is not permitted without written permission.
The publishing tool
The tool described on this site is private and operates only on accounts we own. It is not offered, licensed or made available to anyone else, and these terms create no right to use it.
Platform rules
Where we publish, we operate within the rules of the platform in question. If a platform's policies conflict with anything stated here, that platform's policies govern our conduct there.
No warranty
This site is provided as-is. We make no guarantee that it will be available without interruption or that the information on it is complete at any given moment.
Changes
These terms may be updated. Revisions are posted here with a new date.
